Handbalvereniging Auto Smeeing BDC heeft het eerste damesteam uit de competitie gehaald. Het bestuur van de handbalvereniging kwam tot deze beslissing nadat een groot aantal spelers van het eerste damesteam had aangegeven na het seizoen te gaan stoppen. Doordat het tweede team afgelopen seizoen in de tweede klasse is uitgekomen, was het niveauverschil met de hoofdklasse te groot. Daarom is het besluit genomen om het eerste team terug te trekken uit de hoofdklasse.
Het eerste damesteam van Auto Smeeing BDC behaalde afgelopen seizoen nog een vijfde plaats in de hoofdklasse. Na afgelopen seizoen gaven topscorers Britt van Twillert en Shirley Sakkers te kennen te stoppen om uiteenlopende redenen. Ook gaven een aantal spelers aan hun kinderwens te willen vervullen. Andere spelers en coach Willem-Jan Ruder besloten daarop te stoppen.
Auto Smeeing BDC blijft bij de dames nu vertegenwoordigd met een damesteam uitkomend in de tweede klasse.
